DJ Yella

DJ Yella, born Antoine Carraby on December 11, 1967, is an influential American DJ, music producer, and rapper, best known for his role in the pioneering hip-hop group N.W.A. He is associated primarily with the genres of hip-hop and gangsta rap. Emerging from Compton, California, Yella was instrumental in shaping the sound of West Coast rap during the late 1980s and early 1990s. As a member of N.W.A, he contributed to the groundbreaking album *Straight Outta Compton* (1988), which featured iconic tracks like "F*** tha Police" and "Gangsta Gangsta." Yella's production skills helped define the group’s raw, aggressive sound, which addressed social issues and urban life, influencing countless artists and the genre itself. Beyond N.W.A, DJ Yella released solo works and produced for other artists, including Eazy-E and the group Above the Law. His impact on music extends beyond production; he played a key role in the formation of gangsta rap's identity. In 2015, Yella's contributions were recognized when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of N.W.A, solidifying his legacy in the history of hip-hop.
